TAPP #71: 5 Things Anxiety Sufferer’s DON’T Want to Hear
Wednesday Mar 25, 2020
Wednesday Mar 25, 2020
On episode #71, I talk about the statements and phrases anxiety sufferers don't want to hear when battling their mental health challenges. I dig into such phrases such as: "you can't teach a dog new tricks, and just relax you'll be fine." To a health anxiety sufferer, saying that people are unable to change only engrains their belief that they will have to live the rest of their life in this anxious state. When I was told to just relax and calm down, I felt like that person had no idea what I was going through, thus making me feel more alone and fearful. The goal of this podcast is to deconstruct these statements and explain why they only further sensitize someone with health anxiety challenges.
